Patient Testimonial: Sergey’s Story – Heart Ablation at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah

    Sergey (Patient):
Hello, my name is Sergey, and I’m a patient of Dr. Khaled Sabeh at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah.

I started having symptoms of heart palpitations and abnormal heartbeats a couple of years ago — mostly when I would go to bed. I would feel a slow or sometimes a very quick heart rhythm. Eventually, I decided to have my heart checked with the help of Dr. Sabeh.

Initially, I underwent a few cardiology tests with a general cardiologist, who told me that my abnormal heartbeats required the expertise of an electrophysiologist. Given the hospital’s strong reputation, I decided to come here for a proper check-up.

When I met with Dr. Sabeh, he reviewed my test results and explained that the level of abnormal heartbeats was quite high. He presented two options — to be on medication for the rest of my life, or to go through a simple, minimally invasive procedure called heart ablation.

I opted for the latter. The procedure turned out to be very straightforward, and Dr. Sabeh was extremely knowledgeable. He explained each step in detail — what I would feel during and after the procedure — which really helped put my mind at ease.

Dr. Khaled Sabeh (Consultant Cardiologist & Cardiac Electrophysiologist):
Sergey was referred to us because of his arrhythmia. When he came to see me, he wasn’t fully aware of how serious his condition was. By the time he arrived, his heart function had already started to weaken.

We discussed his options and decided to start with medication, but unfortunately, that didn’t control his symptoms. As such, we moved on to a more curative option — the ablation procedure.

Sergey was very comfortable throughout the procedure, had no complaints, and was able to go home early the next morning. We saw him for follow-up within a week, and he was very pleased — no more arrhythmia, no symptoms.

When we repeated his echocardiogram a month later, his heart function had already improved and returned to normal. Sergey can now lead a completely normal life, fully cured of his arrhythmia.

    Sergey (Patient):
The most amazing thing is that right after the procedure, my heartbeat went back to normal immediately. I could actually hear and feel the difference.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Sabeh for persuading me to go through this procedure — I was in two minds about it at first, unsure if it was worth the risk. But I’m so glad I did it. My heartbeat is now completely normal, and I can live a healthy, active lifestyle again.

Many thanks to all the nurses and the Emirates Hospital Jumeirah team who were involved in the procedure, post-care, and follow-up check-ups. Thank you all!

    Dr. Allam Alkowatli:
Hello, this is Dr. Al Katti, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, American Board Certified, at Emirates Hospital Dubai.

The case today involves a female patient in her mid-40s who presented to Emirates Hospital with severe stenosis of her neck artery, known as the carotid artery.

She had previously refused to undergo neck surgery and came to our center because of our expertise in opening these arteries.

She underwent an extremely successful procedure, where a 95% blockage was opened and stented, achieving excellent results — with no remaining blockage at all.

Believe it or not, this patient went home in less than 24 hours, happy and relieved, without needing surgery or having any scar on her neck.

The entire procedure was done through the leg.

I hope you always remember Emirates Hospital’s expertise whenever you or your loved ones face a similar condition.
    All the best to you!
