Heart Tests

Cardiac / Heart Tests at Emirates Hospitals Group in Dubai. At Emirates we offer comprehensive heart tests in a range of facilities.  Our locations in DHCC, Jumeirah, Marina, Motor City and Business Bay provide various non-invasive heart tests while our Jumeirah Hospital is also equipped with a cardiac cath lab to provide minimally invasive diagnostic heart tests when appropriate.

If you are booked for one of our comprehensive heart check up packages in Dubai, several of the heart tests below will be conducted by our Board-Certified Dubai Cardiologists.  Prevention is better than the cure and simple non-invasive heart tests can provide peace of mind or allow for early intervention to prevent heart issues from needing more invasive treatment in the future.

Non-invasive Heart Tests include:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG): This painless test measures your heart’s electrical activity using electrodes attached to your chest, limbs. It helps detect arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other issues.
  • Echocardiogram (Echo): This painless ultrasound uses sound waves to create detailed images of your heart, valves, and blood flow. It helps assess heart function, valve abnormalities, and heart wall thickness
  • Stress Test (Exercise ECG): This test monitors your heart while you exercise (walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike) to see how it responds to physical exertion. It helps identify potential problems with blood flow to the heart.
  • dobutamine stress echocardiogram (DSE): A dobutamine stress echocardiogram uses medication to mimic exercise and assess your heart function under stress when you can’t exercise on a treadmill.
  • Blood Tests: Blood tests check cholesterol levels, markers for heart damage, and other factors that can indicate heart disease risk.
  • Chest X-ray: While not a direct heart test, a chest X-ray can provide information about your heart size, lungs, and nearby structures that might influence heart function.
  • Holter Monitor: This portable ECG device worn for 24-48 hours continuously records your heart activity throughout your daily routine, helping detect infrequent arrhythmias.
  • Tilt Table Test: A heart tilt table test assesses how your heart rate and blood pressure respond to changing positions by tilting you on a special table.

Minimally Invasive Heart Tests:

  • Cardiac CT Scan: This imaging technique uses X-rays to create detailed cross-sectional images of your heart, helping visualize coronary artery blockages and other abnormalities.
  • Cardiac MRI: Magnetic resonance imaging uses strong magnets and radio waves for detailed images of your heart and surrounding tissues. It can assess heart muscle damage, congenital heart defects, and other issues.
  • Coronary Angiography (Cardiac Cath): A thin catheter is inserted into an artery and guided to your heart. Contrast dye is injected, and X-rays are taken to visualize coronary arteries and identify blockages.
