ECG (Electrocardiogram) Test in Dubai at Emirates Hospitals Group. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, painless test that measures the electrical activity of your heart. It records the timing and strength of electrical signals as they travel through your heart muscle, providing valuable information about your heart rhythm and function. At Emirates Hospitals Group ECG’s are available with our cardiologist in multiple locations.

What happens during an ECG Procedure?

During an ECG, you will lie comfortably on a bed while electrodes are attached to your chest, arms, and legs. These electrodes are sensitive to electrical activity and record the signals generated by your heart. The electrical signals are then transmitted to a machine that translates them into a graph, known as an ECG tracing.

What does an ECG tracing look like?

An ECG tracing is a series of waves that represent the different phases of your heart’s electrical cycle. Each wave has a specific meaning:

  • P wave: Represents the electrical impulse that originates in the sinoatrial node, the natural pacemaker of the heart.
  • QRS complex: Represents the depolarization (activation) of the ventricles, the lower chambers of the heart.
  • T wave: Represents the repolarization (recovery) of the ventricles.
