Dr. Karuna Anand is a Diplomat of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) consultant psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry with expertise in diagnosing and treating mental health issues across various age groups, including adults, children, adolescents, and the elderly. She has over 20 years of clinical experience in the U.S.A. and U.A.E, is recognized for her comprehensive, compassionate, patient-centered approach to mental health care in treating her patients.
With over 22 years of experience, Dr. Anand has worked extensively in the USA and UAE. Prior to psychiatry, she practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist, which deepened her understanding of the unique mental health challenges women face during pregnancy and postpartum. Her career in women’s mental health, particularly perinatal psychiatry, was shaped by this experience, leading to her to be an expert in addressing perinatal and postnatal mental health disorders, such as depression and psychosis.
Dr. Karuna Anand was the chess champion in the medical college for five consecutive years. Her analytic skills are remarkable which she causes her to focus strongly on an accurate diagnosis before formulating a holistic treatment plan for her patients using both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. She also advocates incorporating alternative treatment options and tailors her treatment plans to the individual needs of her patients, always considering their physical, emotional, and psychological well being. Additionally, she will be be providing treatment using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), further broadening her therapeutic options.
Throughout her career, Dr. Anand has worked in leadership roles in mental health services, developed new patient programs in the UAE, and presented at international conferences.
