Snoring

Snoring occurs due to partial obstruction of the airway, enlarged throat structure, or relaxation of the muscles. As the airway is blocked and cannot breathe easily, tremors occur in the throat when trying to breathe, causing snoring.Snoring loudly both reduces one’s own sleep quality and prevents people around him from sleeping properly. People who are not comfortable in sleep cannot rest and naturally they can be tired, sluggish, tense and careless during the day.

Snoring is one of the symptoms of sleep apnea, but not every snoring can be associated with sleep apnea. If your breathing stops during sleep or snoring, this may be related to sleep apnea.

Snoring can develop due to many health problems. Usually snoring can develop depending on the lifestyle of the nose, mouth and throat, as well as lifestyle habits. If the snoring that starts intermittently stops and continues, this may develop due to the underlying diseases. Apart from this, the person may snore depending on his tiredness during the day.

If there is long-term snoring, continuing with breathless breathing and continuous snoring, this should be investigated. Some causes of snoring;

  • Nose, throat and jaw shape problems
  • Uvula (popularly known as small tongue) or soft palate swelling
  • Swelling of the tonsils and adenoids
  • Colds or allergies
  • Overweight
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Taking sleeping pills
  • Using antihistamines
  • Being pregnant
  • The way of sleeping
  • Tiredness
  • Hypertension
  • Heart diseases
  • Sleep apnea
  • Not getting enough sleep

Snoring is seen as a symptom on its own, but this is the most important symptom if you wake up to your own snoring without anyone waking you up. This is another important symptom, especially if you feel your breath is intermittent while you are breathing intermittently or if people around you warn you about this.

Although snoring seems to be a very simple problem, it can develop due to serious underlying diseases. If the snoring that continues for a long time does not pass as a result of rest or continues intermittently and breathlessly, it may develop due to some diseases such as heart or high blood pressure.
