Ultrasound

Thanks to the high-frequency sound waves, the process of imaging the organs in the abdomen is called ultrasound. X-rays, referred to as radiation, are not used in ultrasonography.

What are the types of ultrasound?

PELVIC ULTRASONOGRAPHY

It is an ultrasound technique applied in women for screening for diseases of the organs such as the uterus and ovaries and during routine follow-ups during advanced pregnancy.

ABDOMINAL (URANSABDOMINAL) ULTRASONOGRAPHY

Abdominal ultrasonography, which contains different techniques and application methods, is generally used to investigate diseases related to organs in the abdominal cavity. Ultrasounds made during pregnancy are also included in this group. It is also preferred for the imaging of the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, prostate, stomach and intestines. The procedure can be performed by choosing the appropriate technique such as 3 or 4-dimensional ultrasound, doppler ultrasound, color ultrasound.

TRANSVAGINAL ULTRASONOGRAPHY

Transvaginal ultrasonography is an ultrasonography technique that enables much clearer images to be obtained in the imaging of female reproductive organs compared to pelvic ultrasound. In imaging done with this method, the ultrasound probe is placed inside the vagina. Sound waves are transmitted in the vagina and the results obtained by this way of displaying the reproductive organs such as the uterus and ovaries are much smaller.

3 AND 4 DIMENSIONAL ULTRASONE APPLICATIONS

It is an optionally applied ultrasound method in order to see the baby clearly in pregnant women, to observe their movements, to examine their limbs and to detect some structural diseases.

COLORED DOPPLER ULTRASONOGRAPHY

With color doppler ultrasound, it is possible to investigate vascular diseases, to examine the distribution of blood vessels in tissues and organs, and therefore to investigate the tendency to cancer in tumors. Also called detailed ultrasound. At the same time, the direction of blood flow, possible vascular occlusion and problems causing obstruction can be detected with this ultrasound technique. The use of the doppler ultrasound technique can also be used to detect conditions such as developmental retardation in the pregnant women.
