Low Residue Diet

Patients is advised to:

  • Keep a food diary to monitor triggers
  • 6 small frequent meal
  • Adequate Physical activity
  • Adequate amount of fluids
  • Follow a low residue diet:
  • White bread, rice, pasta or noodles, pancakes
  • Mashed potato with no skin, no milk
  • Lean meat: chicken breast, fish fillet, turkey cuts, egg white.
  • Clear soups: chicken broth, allowed vegetables soup
  • Canned vegetables or very well cooked
  • Canned or cooked fruits with no seeds like applesauce, apricot
  • Apple juice, watermelon, soft honeydew, ripe banana
  • Creamy peanut/ almond butter
  • Plain dry crackers
  • Anise tea, green tea with mint

Avoid:

  • Nuts and seeds
  • Coffee and tea
  • Raw and partially cooked vegetables: salads, broccoli, cauliflower
  • Corn or popcorn
  • Raw fruits with skin or seeds: kiwi, all berries
  • All dried fruits
  • Dairy products
  • Legumes and beans
  • Orange juice, citric foods
  • Avoid spicy food
