Dr. Talakere Usha Kiran is a UK Board Certified Consultant Gynecologist with over 20 years of experience. She is a renowned expert in minimally invasive surgery, having performed countless keyhole (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) procedures, including the removal of fibroids, ovarian cysts, and large-sized uteruses. Additionally, she specializes in urogynecological and cosmetic gynecological surgery.
Dr. Usha Kiran is trained and certified in minimally invasive laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgery (Level 3), VNOTEs (scarless surgery), urogynecology, pelvic reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic gynecology. She graduated from Government Medical College, Mysore, and earned her master’s in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, in 1995, where she was a gold medalist in the FCPS at Mumbai University. She moved to the UK in 1997 for postgraduate training in the Welsh Deanery, obtaining an MRCOG from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1999. She received her CCT in 2006 and subsequently became a Consultant at the Aneurin Bevan NHS Trust.
In 2011, she was awarded the FRCOG for her contributions to the field of obstetrics and gynecology. In the UK, she completed Royal College-certified training in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, transvaginal ultrasound, and urogynecology. As a Consultant in the UK, she served as Joint Lead Clinician/Preceptor for Minimal Access Surgery and Emergency Gynecology, chaired the Guideline Committee at Aneurin Bevan Trust, and headed Research and Development for her department.
Dr. Usha Kiran introduced VNOTEs (scarless surgery) in the UAE and is proficient in performing complex high-risk surgeries such as grade 4 endometriosis. She is frequently sought for second opinions on such cases in Dubai. An active researcher, she has presented at over 100 international conferences and published numerous articles in esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
During her tenure in the UK, she taught students from Cardiff University (as an Honorary Tutor) and the Welsh Postgraduate Deanery. In India, she taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at Grant Medical College and was recognized as a UG/PG teacher by Mumbai University.
