Breast cancer usually begins in the cells that line the milk ducts and is known as invasive ductal breast cancer. It has the ability to spread through the body and can appear as a lump in the area. Less commonly, breast cancer can begin inside the actual milk duct of the breast but doesn’t have the ability to spread. Known as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), it’s less visible to the eye and usually found during a screening.
