Breast cancer usually begins in the cells that line the milk ducts and is known as invasive ductal breast cancer. It has the ability to spread through the body and can appear as a lump in the area. Less commonly, breast cancer can begin inside the actual milk duct of the breast but doesn’t have the ability to spread. Known as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), it’s less visible to the eye and usually found during a screening.

Breast cancer symptoms include a change in shape of the breast, dimpling appearance of the breast, swelling in the armpits, discharge from the nipple (that may be streaked with blood), an inversion of the nipple, rash around the nipple, or an unusual lump found in the breast.

Other types of breast cancer include inflammatory breast cancer, invasive and pre-invasive lobular breast cancer, plus Paget’s disease of the breast (which resembles eczema).

More Information on Breast Cancer

Those with a family history of breast cancer, or who have previously suffered from the disease, are more likely to develop it for the first time or repeatedly. It is also believed that being overweight, over the age of 50 or excessively abusing alcohol may increase the chances.

In order to prevent advanced breast cancer, it is recommended that women regularly check their breasts and consult a general practitioner for further checks and advice if they are concerned about changes. Although it is a highly rare occurrence, men may also be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Diagnosis of breast cancer can involve a screening (mammogram) or a biopsy of breast tissue, which involves cutting a small sample of tissue for analysis.

Surgery is the first course of treatment for breast cancer, followed up by chemotherapy or radiation therapy. However, where secondary cases of breast cancer are present, the disease isn’t curable and doctors focus on getting the patient into remission so the relief from the symptoms enables the patient to live the best life possible.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]When we say “cancer”, there is rarely any perception of a disease that is known. It is among the most common diseases of our age. So much so that we hear more and more cancer cases day by day. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It is rarely seen in men. As with any disease, early diagnosis is essential in breast cancer.

What is breast cancer?

The formation and reproduction of cancer cells in the milk ducts or milk glands inside the breast tissue is called breast cancer. Not many symptoms are observed in this type of cancer in the early stages. Malignant cells grow insidiously and slowly. The patient, who does not see any symptoms, thinks that he is naturally healthy, but the progressive disease has spread to other tissues and organs. For this reason, it should be explained to the patients how important it is to have routine screening and not to shame the doctor about health. If it is diagnosed before it has spread to another organ, it is very likely that treatment will result in breast cancer.
