Hip Surgery

Hip joints may wear out due to old age, injury or various diseases. This makes it difficult to move. In everyday actions such as walking, sitting down and standing up, those joints may hurt. The increased pain also pushes the person to immobility. Hip pain is inevitable if the pain started to continue even while resting at night or day and pain medications do not benefit, if physical therapy did not give the expected result.

The ends of the bones rubbing against each other in the hip joint are replaced by artificial joint parts. This artificial joint, called a total hip prosthesis, provides painless, comfortable movement and walking. Performing this operation without destroying the bone structures is very important in terms of comfort afterwards. Not delaying it very much provides better results from the surgery.

After the operation, pain may continue for a while, and painkillers can be used. A few hours after the surgery, standing and walking exercises are started. These exercises are very important for the healing process. It will be good to pay attention to leg movements, bending and straightening for a while, not gaining excess weight and regular walking. Being able to move without hip pain will improve your daily life quality. In addition, hip prostheses are durable, so you can continue your activities comfortably for many years.

As with any surgery, there are some risks in hip surgery. Clotting is one of the most important risks. The physician should perform the operation by taking precautions in this regard. You should definitely consult your doctor in cases such as hip pain, calf and leg pain – swelling, redness at the surgery site, burning and leakage, high fever, chest pain and breathing difficulties.
