With the procedure that takes only a few minutes, it is a great advantage for a successful treatment to observe whether there are any signs of breast cancer, to examine the size and type of the mass, if any, to provide an early diagnosis that allows cancer to be treated without spreading to other tissues.

If the visual symptoms such as discoloration, scarring, redness, orange peel appearance, proliferation and prominence in the vessels in the breast area are noticed, the nipple should be taken into contact with a specialist physician without delay. What is Digital Mammography?

The most important development in mammography devices is Full Field Digital Mammography systems. In Full Field Digital Manography, the image is created in the computer environment by using an electronic detector instead of X-ray film.

  •         High contrast in the images obtained in the digital mammography system provides a great advantage in detecting very early signs of breast cancer such as calcification areas and small nodules. Especially in women with dense breast tissue and fibrocystic changes, this system provides more detailed examination.
  •         The radiation received by the breast tissue in digital mammography is 1/10 of the radiation dose in simple mammography.
  •         Inspection time is much shorter. Since there are no operations such as film-bath, the image is digitally monitored one minute after the mammography is taken, if necessary, corrections are made while the patient is in the shooting room.
  •         The obtained digital mammography images are evaluated on very high-resolution large monitors. In these monitors, a more detailed examination is done by adjusting the image magnification, brightness and contrast.

·         The obtained digital mammography images can be archived in the computer environment. Thus, patients’ previous examination results are stored digitally and can be compared with new ones.
